Norman Frisch Receives 2013 LMDA Dramaturg Driven Grant
The Literary Managers and Dramaturgs of the Americas (LMDA) is pleased to announce the recipient of the Fall 2013 round of Dramaturg Driven Grants: Norman Frisch. This round of grants saw twelve applications and the selection process was overseen by LMDA’s Vice-President of Programs, Stephen Colella, along with committee members Liz Engelman, Raphael Martin and Laine Newman.
Norman Frisch is the driving force behind DRAMATURG U!, which is an idea in formulation for a proposed national peer-to-peer skills exchange network for dramaturgs – a framework for passing the knowledge and experience of master practitioners to those coming up behind.
Beginning in 2014, DRAMATURG U! will undertake the formulation of a program of intensive master-classes by and for professional dramaturgs -- throughout the year and at locations throughout North America.
DRAMATURG U! is looking at 2014 as a year of planning and small-scale “pilot” programming, to include the formation of an Advisory Committee, the identification of a handful of program coordinators in regional theater capitals, and invitations to a first cadre of master dramaturgs to formulate visions of their ideal skill-sharing experiences.
