Biography
lo bil is an emerging settler-artist from the Dish with One Spoon Territory who creates body-based performative experiments to correlate studio research into process, vulnerability, risk, memory and agency, who seeks an aesthetics that arises from sensory experience. lo has assisted numerous other performance artists in bringing their work to form.

“I have been creating improvisational body-based performance art for the past 5 years. I work with direct address with the audience, speaking in a transparent manner about what I am thinking. Each performance is research for the next performance, questions surface that I try to answer with the next performance. I believe that new ideas and ways of thinking surface in the heightened mind-state that occurs when an audience is watching.”

lo is currently an Interdisciplinary Masters student at York University mapping technological methodologies and political theory onto low-fi art-making processes.

Since November 2014, lo has shown at: HATCH at Harbourfront, Duration & Dialogue Festival, Rhubarb Festival, Flowchart at Dancemakers, Guelph Short and Sweet/Kazoo Festival, PS: We Are All Here (Toronto Dance Community Love-in), One Night Only Glasgow/LADA DIY, AGO's First Thursdays, Summerworks Festival (winner of the FADO Live Art Award), Panoply Lab and ITINERANT Performance Art Festival in NYC; Victoria Stanton/Dare-Dare, WIVES Assemblee/Studio 303, and Words and [__] Words a durational conference/School of Making Thinking in Montreal, Month of Performance Art-Berlin, DCAC in Washington and 7a*11d International Festival of Performance Art.
