Biography
Shane Strawbridge is a PhD in Interdisciplinary Arts student (Theatre Concentration) at Texas Tech University. He received his MFA in Playwriting from Hollins University in 2017, his MA in Drama from Texas Woman's University in 2014, and his BM in Music Education from Howard Payne University in 2006. His plays have had many productions, readings, and workshops across the country. He has recently accepted commissions to write a new play based on the life of a German pastor during the Holocaust and a play based on the fairy tale Bremen Town Musicians for Merry-Go-Round Children's Theatre in New York. His 10-minute children's play I'll Take Care of You was the winner of the 2012 ArtsView Children's Theatre Playwriting Contest, a selection for the 2014 RedEye10s New Play Festival, and a regional finalist for the 2018 KCACTF 10-Minute Play Competition. Diner and Other Short Plays as well as the anthologized play A Mourning Hollow (on which Shane was a co-author) have been published by Polychoron Press and are now available on Amazon. Recent and upcoming productions include Arid, Marvelous Cornelius, The Best Woman, The Sinister Ones, Saturday: 2:34am, and Words are Hard. He is the recent recipient of the Regional Award for Innovation in Research Studies from the Association for Theatre in Higher Education. As an actor, he has won awards from several organizations and was named one of Dallas-Fort Worth's Best Actors of 2012 by CBS-DFW.
