Biography
Pamela Turner is a playwright, dramaturg, and director-deviser with credits in the U.S, Germany, Guam, and Ireland. She is the co-founder of two companies, ArtPlay, Inc. and multiShades.atlanta; was Director of Theatre for Youth at the Academy Theatre; and has taught and collaborated at several institutions including Emory University, Portland State University, and Agnes Scott College. Productions of her plays have appeared at 7 Stages Theatre, Found Stages, Circle Ensemble Theatre, Alliance Theatre, Center for Puppetry Arts XPT Adult Series, UGA University Theatre, Piccolo Spoleto Festival USA, American Theatre Co-op, Live-Wire Theatre, Theatre Gael, Pulse Theatre, Atelier Stage, Del-Mar Productions, Port City Theatre, Independent Actors Theatre, and the 1996 Cultural Olympiad. Recently Keester was a winner of the Ethel Wilson Award and a semi-finalist for the O’Neill Playwrights Conference; Male Man, received a Chester Horn Festival “Outstanding Playwright” award and was a finalist for the Heideman Award. FACES, commissioned by 7 Stages Theatre was also a competition semi-finalist at Multi Stages-NYC and competition finalist at Red Theater Chicago. Other commissions include Free-Dum (devised-Alliance Theatre), Hidden Man (7 Stages), The Lady and the Poet (Theatre Gael), Frijoles on the Side (Fly-By Theatre) and Voices (1996 Cultural Olympiad). A proud member of the Dramatists Guild, Turner is the DG Atlanta Regional Rep.
