Biography
I'm an Early Career Dramaturge based in Milwaukee, WI with additional experience in Non-Profit arts management, producing, assistant directing, and acting. I am currently pursuing an MA in Literature and Cultural Theory, with a research interest in Early Modern drama, while also expanding my knowledge in literary theory. I've worked with a wide range of texts and am working on developing a theory of production dramaturgy by which to pursue the craft.
I am particularly interested in older plays that are not often produced as well as Welsh drama. I am also interested in the dramaturg's expanding role in theatre as a whole, including in terms of how the dramaturge can help in social justice movements in the arts.
I am committed to research and play development throughout the entire process. Each time I encounter a new script, I like to dive in and work out how the script is functioning, what the text is asking us to think about, and how we can bring that to life on stage. I also like to learn by doing and enjoy working in the rehearsal hall with the entire team. My training as an actor aids me in my work as a dramaturge by knowing how to communicate well with the creative team. I am also very interested in working with playwrights in new play development.
My dramaturgical approach is to keep the audience in mind above all, that is focussing on what I can do to really reach the audience in my role that will serve the production as a whole.
Projects Currently in Development:
"The London Prodigal" attributed to William Shakespeare. This is a translation project of a German script entitled "Der Londoner Verlorne Sohn."
