Biography
Elizabeth Coen has an MFA in Dramaturgy and a PhD in Theater History, Theory and Criticism. As a professional dramaturg in New York, she has served as a script reader for New York Theatre Workshop and a writer for Off-Off-Online and the Village Voice. She has also worked for Samuel French as a licensing liaison for professional theaters in the US and Canada. Her research as a theater historian considers performances of nationhood and the politics of national identity in the eighteenth century. Over the years, her work has been supported by numerous organizations including the German Academic Exchange Service and the Mellon School of Theater and Performance at Harvard. Her current book project examines the development of German national theater.
