With a dual Bachelor of Arts in Theatre Arts and English from the University of Puget Sound and a theatrical background in Shakespearean dramaturgy, directing, and performance, I tend to refer to myself a 'classical theater artist,' because that moniker encompasses all the myriad ways I like to engage with the Western classical repertoire.

I'm not sure if I can go so far as to claim to to have any real expertise in the field of theater, but my primary area of interest as an artist is Shakespeare studies. Specifically, I am interested in the implications, challenges, and opportunities of 'adapting' Shakespeare's canon and other early modern plays for audiences with a twenty-first century sensibility. The bulk of my dramaturgical research and practical experience to date has centered on the question of artistic transgression: what does it mean to produce early modern plays in direct defiance of their original practices?
