Biography
Dr. Eric Colleary is the Cline Curator of Theatre and Performing Arts at the Harry Ransom Center where, among many things, he oversees the extensive collections of American and British theatre, dance, opera, music, and variety performance and the archives of notable performance figures such as Tennessee Williams, Arthur Miller, Lillian Hellman, Adrienne Kennedy, Tom Stoppard, Stella Adler, Norman Bel Geddes, Harry Houdini, and Peter O’Toole. He holds a doctorate in Theatre Historiography from the University of Minnesota, and was formerly a visiting professor in theatre and public history at Macalester College. He is a lecturer in the Performance as Public Practice program at the University of Texas at Austin, co-chair of the American Theatre Archive Project, and co-chair of the communications committee of the Theatre Library Association.
