Biography
Sam Lahne is a dramaturg and playwright based in Santa Barbara, CA. He is Resident Dramaturg at Ensemble Theatre Company of Santa Barbara, where he’s currently working on Jonathan Fox’s adaptation of Woody Allen’s film HUSBANDS AND WIVES and MISS BENNET: CHRISTMAS AT PEMBERLEY by Lauren Gunderson and Margot Melcon. He is an Adjunct Professor at Santa Barbara City College. He has served as Literary Assistant at Woolly Mammoth Theatre Company, where he worked on the development and world premiere productions of Aaron Posner’s STUPID FUCKING BIRD and Mia Chung’s YOU FOR ME FOR YOU, and as a Literary/Admission Assistant at New Dramatists.
Sam’s plays have been produced and/or developed by the Bay Area Playwrights Festival, The Playwrights Center, the Kennedy Center/National New Play Network, Barter Theatre Company, Scripps Ranch Theater, and the Jewish Plays Project, among others. He received his MFA from the University of Iowa Playwrights Workshop, and his BA from Vassar College.
