Biography
Ned Moore is a storyteller and community dramaturgy pioneer currently based in Pittsburgh, PA. As a stage writer, Ned focuses primarily in translation and adaptation. His adaptation of Ismail Kadare's 1978 novel Broken April was staged at The Lenfest Center for the Arts at Columbia University in 2018. His translation of Euripides’ Bakkhai premiered at The Fisher Center for Performing Arts in 2013, directed by Lileana Blain-Cruz, and was restaged in 2015 at the Marigny Opera House in New Orleans, LA. Since then, Ned has received fellowships from The Croatian National Theatre, The Eugene O'Neill Theater Center, Tulane University, and Columbia University. In New York, he has helped develop new plays at the O’Neill Center, The New Group, and New York Theatre Workshop. He has worked as an assistant and co-director on many productions, most recently: The SPARK Festival of New Musicals at Pittsburgh Civic Light Opera (Artistic Assistant), Verdi's Aida (dir. Marin Blazević, The Croatian National Theatre), Wrecked and Uncle Vanya (dir. Kim Kerfoot), and Waiting by Nora Sørena Casey (dir. Anne Cecilia Haney). His critical writing appears in Culturebot and TDF Stages magazines. By day, Ned works as the Administrative Coordinator for City of Asylum, a literary center that provides two-year residencies to international writers seeking asylum due to political persecution.
