Biography
I am a freelance dramaturg, director, and teacher currently based in Philadelphia, PA. I hold an MFA from Mary Baldwin College, and a PhD from The Shakespeare Institute (UK). My doctoral thesis is a modernized critical edition of the Admiral's Men play 'Look About You'.*
I have worked at Studio Theatre (DC), the Folger Theatre (Folger Shakespeare Library), Shakespeare Theatre Company, American Shakespeare Center (Staunton, VA), Brave Spirits Theatre Company (DC), the Barter Theatre (Abingdon, VA), and at the Guthrie Theater.
My expertise is mainly in early modern drama, and I'm particularly interested in the strands of bibliographical and theatrical practice bordering and woven into the texts. Practice will always inform my theory, and I love serious play. In the future I'd like to work on developing new plays, and on adapting old stories for the stage. I'm also keen to consult on text preparation and in-rehearsal text work with actors.
