Biography
After not only getting accepted into but also ranking highly in the audition process at Mississippi School of the Arts for theatre (much to my delight and surprise), I was thrown into dramaturgy headfirst. I took Dramaturgy I and II under Dr. Robert Brooks and fell in love, even becoming the first dramaturg in our school's history when I was granted permission to dramaturg William Shakespeare's The Tempest.
After directing Agamemnon from a very dramaturgical platform my second year, I began to realize dramaturgy is what I wanted to do with my life. I was asked by other students to dramaturg their productions and subsequently decided to apply to The University of Southern Mississippi (USM) for Pre-Theatre with a dramaturgy, directing, and stage management portfolio.
I am now a senior Theatre B.A. major, Applied Music minor. I have now dramaturged or literary managed 5 studio shows here at USM.
I am looking for any dramaturgical summer work or internships that would give me experience in the field with real people doing the nitty-gritty of dramaturgy as well as suggestions for graduate programs.
I am currently writing my Undergraduate Honors Thesis titled Tragic Misperceptions: Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder and Return Assimilation in David Rabe's Vietnam Trilogy.
